Jive By Five has been playing shows all over Northeast Connecticut for over 20 years. Performing the great jazz classics from people like Count Basie and Duke Ellington, to Benny Goodman and Louis Armstrong, and more. You’ll want to dance and sing along.
ROBERT ANDREW PARKER, DRUMS
Drummer Robert Andrew Parker has loved jazz from and early age and always had a drum set nearby to play when he wasn’t painting. He’s played drums in various bands for over 50 years with some great players including guitarist Red Balaban, tenor saxophonist Carmen Leggio, and alto saxophonist Hal McCusick. Jazz informed the artwork that made him a highly regarded artist and illustrator. His artwork is in major collections and galleries around the world. His favorite music is from the likes of Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Art Tatum, Count Basie, and Louis Armstrong.
SCOTT HEATH, PIANO
Pianist, bandleader, and solo musician, Scott Heth has been playing clubs and concerts in the Northeast with Robert Andrew Parker and for over 20 years. Whether Scott is leading a big band, a trio, or playing a solo performance, he has a musicianship and mastery of the piano that includes classical, jazz, R&B, and rock and roll. He is currently performing with Heth, Bradley & Houston, celebrating 16 years of music together.
WANDA HOUSTON, VOCALS
Special guest vocalist Wanda Houston has performed with stars like Barbara Streisand, Patti Austin, Joe Cocker, and Celine Dion. She is not only the lead vocalist for Heth, Bradley & Houston, the Wanda Houston Band and Big & Bigger, but she also lends her talent to regional projects including the Convergence Project, Mothership Trio, The VT Jazz Center Big Band and the NOLA inspired Rejuvenators.
KRIS JENSEN, SAXOPHONE
Saxophonist Kris Jensen has worked with the Allman Brothers Band, trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson and members of Connecticut's world class jazz community. Jensen both attended the University of Hartford and taught there under the auspices of jazz saxophone legend Jackie McLean.
PETER McEACHERN, TROMBONE
Trombonist Peter McEachern has toured and recorded with Blues legend Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown, Lamonte Young, and the Thomas Chapin Trio. Currently he is the Chairman of the Music Department at Salisbury School, and is a busy freelance artist in the tri-state area. Peter has also been a teaching artist at the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 1998.
CHRISTOPHER PARKER, DRUMS
Drummer Christopher Parker is the eldest son of Robert Andrew Parker. He is an avid artist as well as a highly regarded drummer. He has recorded and toured with countless international stars like Bob Dylan, James Brown, Miles Davis, Ashford & Simpson, Paul Butterfield, and many others. Currently he is touring to support his new CD, “Tell Me,” by the Chris Parker Trio, with Kyoko Oyobe on piano, and Ameen Saleem on bass.
ADAM COTE, BASS
Bassist Adam Coté has appeared at Smalls Jazz Club with Philip Harper’s band and has been part of the Ian Hendrickson-Smith Quintet featuring James Poyser. Coté has been a member of the jazz quartet, Walking Distance, led by Caleb Curtis (alto saxophone), since 2012. Their debut album, Neighborhood, was released in 2015. “Coté cleverly walks the line between rhythm player and melodic voice” writes Dan Bilawsky of All About Jazz. Their sophomore album, Freebird featuring Jason Moran, released in September of 2018, was included in the New York Times ‘Best Jazz of 2018’ calling it “utterly fresh”.
