Giving performances that are “lithe, persuasive” (The New York Times), “eloquent and enthralling” (The Boston Globe), and described as “the most compelling American group to come on the scene” (The New Yorker), the Horszowski Trio will debut at Music Mountain with two performances on June 25.
Their 2 PM Free Family Concert will present Schubert’s “Trout” Quintet for music lovers of all ages, featuring the Horszowski Trio with Daedalus Quartet violist, Jessica Thompson, and Gregg August, double bass, one of the most versatile musicians today and a member of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Composers Orchestra, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. Discover Schubert's popular "Trout" Quintet for piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. Learn how all five instruments play together and how the music connects with a trout. All Welcome!
Their 3 PM Concert opens with two piano trios: Smetana’s Trio in G Minor, Op. 15, and Paul Chihara’s Fantasy “Red Dragonfly,” an homage to R. Schumann written in 2022. The entire second half is devoted to Schubert’s beloved Piano Quintet in A Major, Op. 114, D. 667, “The Trout,” named after his own song of the same title, which appears in the theme and variations fourth movement of the quintet.
