A Visit with the Beethoven of America on America's 250th Birthday
Who was Anthony Philip Heinrich and why does he matter? Music Mountain presents a brief tour through the life of this little-known early American composer, who was among the first musicians to try to carve out a truly American classical music. Heinrich scholars Fred Baumgarten and Neely Bruce will introduce you to Heinrich's life and work, with Bruce and tenor Steve Hoagland performing excerpts from Heinrich's song cycle "Sunset Chimes." And you'll learn the answer to the burning questions, "Who's Buried in Audubon's Tomb?" and "What does Audubon have to do with it?"
