We Are Hiring 2026 Summer Staff!

If you are detail-oriented, at ease with people, available on weekends, and eager to learn how concerts are run, joining the Music Mountain Summer Festival Staff may be a great learning opportunity for you. Applicants should be at least 16 years of age by June 1, 2026.

Music Mountain has been home to riveting chamber music performances since 1930, and jazz since 1987. Music Mountain Staff regularly interact with our loyal audience and stellar performing artists.

Dates:

June 1 - September 13, 2026, mostly weekends.

In 2026, concerts run on Sundays at 3 pm from June 7 through September 13, and on Saturdays at 7 pm from June 27 through September 5. 

The week of June 1 will be Training Week. If you are still in school, we can work around your schedule.

​​​​​​​For those in the area whose semester is in session in early June, late August, or September, it is possible to work weekends only. We also consider hires that need to leave for college in August. 

Hours:

5-6 hour shifts on Saturdays and Sundays.
Saturdays approximately 4PM-10PM.
Sundays approximately 12PM-6PM.

Possible additional time during the week as available for the term.  Additional hours can be added before the start of the season to work on marketing projects such as announcing our events in online calendars of events and reaching out to media outlets and blogs. 

Location:

Music Mountain, 225 Music Mountain Rd, Falls Village, CT. Reasonable commuting distance from Music Mountain is highly preferred. Directions

Salary:

$17/hour, less applicable payroll and withholding taxes, payable biweekly.

Main Responsibilities:

Before the start of the season:

-Is trained on all systems and concert day protocols, such as, how to answer calls and emails for ticket sales, how to enter data into AudienceView correctly and completely, how to run the box office during the week and during concerts, etc. 
-Helps prepare the box office, Music Mountain office, utility room, and concessions stand.

During the season:

-Processes ticket sales, both in advance of concerts and on performance days, via phone and in person at the box office, using our ticketing system, Audience View (Ovation Tickets).  
-At concerts, staffs and supervises the concessions operation, selling food and beverages, merch, and albums of performers, and prepares hospitality items for the artists in the Green Room prior to their arrival.
-Ensures that Gordon Hall and the Music Mountain lawn are properly set up and ready to receive an audience. 
-Depending on skill level, assists with the recording of concerts or page turning. 
-Depending on skill level, assists with the set up, operation, and break down of the sound system for jazz groups. 


Skills and Qualifications:

-The candidate must be at least 16 years of age by June 1, 2026. The candidate must be detail-oriented, confident, friendly and at ease interacting with the public in person and over the phone, possess good computer skills, and be able to quickly and creatively solve problems. 

-The candidate must be excellent at keeping track of our concessions and merchandise inventory, and keep the office, the box office, the utility room, as well as all data in the shared Drive, well organized and readily accessible. 

-Additional skills include writing skills for customer relations via email; using Google Drive.

-No musical experience is necessary, but if you were a musician or music student this would be the place to be this summer!



About Music Mountain:


Music Mountain, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, began as the unique vision of Jacques Gordon, Chicago Symphony concertmaster from 1921 to 1930 and the founding first violinist of the Gordon String Quartet, one of the leading quartets of its time. Music Mountain is the longest running chamber music festival in the US, offering 15 weeks of concerts by world renowned artists in acoustically exceptional Gordon Hall, as well as hosting summer intensives and a range of contemporary music performances.  Located in Falls Village, CT, Music Mountain is in the National Register of Historical Places.
