To reach Music Mountain the most direct routes are:

From New York City and Southern Connecticut
(Via Interstate 684):

From either I-95 or the Major Deegan Parkway, go west or east, respectively, on I-287 to connect with I-684 going north to Brewster. The Saw Mill or the Hutch connect directly with I-684. Take I-684 until it ends—at that point it merges onto Route 22. Travel on Route 22 for 30 miles into Amenia NY. At the stop light turn right toward Sharon CT (Route 343). In 5 miles you will come to a four way stop sign with a large clock tower on your right. Turn left (onto Route 41) and go north for just over 5 miles to a stop sign and flashing red light in the middle of no-where; turn right (onto Route 112) and go for another 5 miles. Route 112 terminates at Route 7. Turn left (north) on Route 7 and travel only about 250 yards—to the stoplight (Lime Rock Station Road). Turn right at this stoplight and bear left going up the mountain for three and a half miles. The first time you will bear left is over the railroad tracks, then there are two other times you will come to a fork in the road and will bear left. Our driveway is on the right hand side.

From Hartford

From Hartford, take Route 44 West.

Our Google Maps directions start in Winchester, CT, as this ensures the route generated will be the same as we recommend coming from Hartford: Route 44 to Route 7 to Route 63 to Music Mountain Rd.
Google Maps: From Hartford via Winchester CT (Route 44 from Hartford…)

From Eastern Massachusetts

From eastern Massachusetts, take the turnpike to exit 2. Go south on the 102 connector to Stockbridge and then follow Route 7 to Route 63 to Music Mountain Rd.

Our Google Maps directions do show the North Elm Street/Elm Street ‘shortcut’ (not Route 7). This is basically the hypotenuse of a right triangle described by Route 7 & Routes 7/44 in North Canaan.

It is not necessary to take the North Elm Street/Elm Street ‘shortcut,’ as staying on Route 7 will lead you to the intersection (with traffic light) of Route 7 & Routes 7/44 in North Canaan (the legs of the right triangle…)
